Here you can see an example of a major correction an a rare Camaro ZL1.
The left side has been wet sanded to level out orange peel and reduce defects in the paints surface, the right side has been cut and refined which means polished with a heavy cut compound to remove sanding marks, and then refined with a finishing compound to remove any marks left from the heavy cut process.
Here you can see an example of an extensive paint correction, the left side looking dull, light scratches in the paints surface, swirl marks induced from poor wash methods are all present stopping the surface of the paint looking its best. On the right side a heavy cut and refinement process have been completed, as you can see clarity has been restored and the surface of the paint smooth and glossy.
Here is a close up shot of a panel before it has been polished, if you look around the centre of the image where the light is directed you can see patterns that almost resemble spider webs. These light scratches are caused by poor wash methods that scratch the surface of the paint. If you can look just past that then you can see the paint is almost patchy, this is caused by cheap acidic wash products.
Here we have a close up shot of the same panel after it has ben polished.
Firstly you will notice that there is a reflection in the paint where as before there wasnt, secondly all of those scratches and inperfections in the surface of the paint have been removed. These images are example of what can be achieved with polishing
